May It Live Forever Inside You

Its like that one perfect phrase that pops into your head, that sublime sentence, that dynamite dialogue, it fills your mind as you're falling asleep, as you sing enthusiastically in the shower, as youre elbow-deep in dishes. Youre given a finite amount of time to document it so you attempt to ingrain it into your conscious as you drift into the subconscious, you repeat it over and over to yourself until youre done with the task at hand, and sometimes you make it just in the knick of time before that delectable diction disappears forever into the improbably inaccessible recesses of your mind (or maybe it just escapes altogether, or maybe it never existed in the first place), but more often you find yourself forgetting that you ever had anything to remember anyway, or the sheer genius of it, that one word that really made it so notable in the first place isnt fitting as well as it did in your head, or, in the worst case scenario and the one that happens most memorably, you managed to make a note of it and come across it hours or days or weeks later and it was only perfect for that moment in time and isnt relevant anymore or it never was, and either way you're beating yourself up over it. Truly, you are a hack.

About me
Hi. Morgan, 27, of Santa Barbara, CA. I am a hypocritical admirer of rhetoric (when it is my own) and an observer of literary trends. A secret: I don't take anything very seriously, and that includes myself.
