My grandfather died.

My grandfather died. It hit me harder than expected, though of course the death itself was not unexpected.
I cried gut-wrenching sobs, full-body heaves, while a cop gave me a fix-it ticket for my tinted windows. When all was said and done, he asked if there was anything I needed assistance with. It took me a few moments to compose myself, and then I wailed, "My grandfather died today!" Had he known at the beginning of our interaction, he said, he wouldn't have written a ticket, but now it was too late.

Hi. Morgan, 27, of Santa Barbara, CA. I am a hypocritical admirer of rhetoric (when it is my own) and an observer of literary trends. A secret: I don't take anything very seriously, and that includes myself.
